TMG lauds peaceful, orderly conduct of election in Borno

Maiduguri:   A leading election observer group, the Transition Monitoring Group (TMG), has lauded the peaceful and orderly manner of the exercise in the state.

The state Coordinator of the group, Mr Ibrahim Muhammad who spoke to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri, said he was impressed with the conduct except for the low turn out recorded.

“It is a successful exercise except for the low turn out and one area in Bulumkutu ward of Maiduguri where I saw a politician sharing money.

“So far, there is no case of violence or thuggery,” Muhammad said.

He lauded the matured way people conducted themselves and urged for sustainance throughout the exercise.

He said the group had deployed members across local government areas of the state to monitor the Governorship and House of Assembly election.

Meanwhile, sorting and counting of votes has commenced in most polling units in Maiduguri metropolis.

At polling unit 001 in Gwange 111 in Maiduguri, the Polling Officer, Samuel Abah said there was poor turn out as less than a hundred voted out of the total 686 registered at the unit.

“After we are done counting, we are going to upload the result in the BVAS,” Abah said. (NAN)/ Flowerbudnews
