India High Commission Advocates Yoga As Panacea For Global Peace

Abuja: (Flowerbudnews):  The Acting India High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. V. S. Surendra advocated adoption of yoga as a major panacea for the achievement of global peace.

Flowerbudnews reports that the.Envoy made the advocacy in a statement to mark the Year 2022 International Day of Yoga in Abuja on Tuesday.

It is the 8th international day of yoga as designated by United Nation.

According to him ‘international day of yoga, you all know has been celebrated since 2014, following the declaration at the general session of the United nation on 21st June 2014 at the instance of the India Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.

The India Envoy expressed his happiness over the way this years celebration was being held globally following the global lockdown that affected the celebration in 2020.

According to him. “This years celebration is been marked on global scheme” adding that ” it is a symbol of victory of mankind over several challenges that tends paralyzed the global peace”.

He further stressed that ,” this years theme of the celebration centres on yoga for humanity” , maintained that over one billion people celebrate yoga globally .

The Indua Envoy, however, called on global community to embrace yoga because of its attendant immense spiritual, mental and physical benefits.

He then urged the world to “see the harmony between the spirit, mental body benefits this exercise offers.

Mr Surendra noted that “today the world is facing severatating calamity such as insecurity, climate change food security, while calling for everyone to be the change we want to see

In a related development, one of the resource person at the event, Director, Art of Living, at the high commission, Dr. Akshay Jain lauded the concept of yoga.

According to him ”yoga is the gift of India to the world.”

Jain further stressed that normal exercise concentrate on body alone, while yoga on body, breath and mind.

He explained that when “body, breath and mind are in harmony, one is bound to experience wholeness which will lead high productivity “.
