EDE (Osun State): Ede, the home town of Sen. Demola Adeleke, the Governor-elect of Osun State has erupted in Ecstatic Jubilation over the election.
Flowerbudnews reports that people from all walks of life, radiating happiness, converged at the Country Home Area of Ede, the residences of the Adelekes.
It will be recalled that Sen. Ademola Adeleke, a former Senator was declared winner of the keenly contested gubernatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC,).
INEC Returning Officer for the election, Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, stated that Adeleke polled 403,371 votes to defeat his closet rival, Gov. Gboyega Oyetola, the candidate of the APC, who scored 375,027 votes.
Ogundipe is the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos.
Happy residents kept trooping in their hundreds shaking hands, exchanging pleasantries and singing – IMOLE De, (Light Has Come) , the campaign slogan of Senator Adeleke.
Both young and elderly were given free access to assorted non-alcoholic drinks at the gates of homes of the prominent Adeleke family.
Large crowd were seen singing and dancing joyfully in front of the residence of Late Gov. Isiaka Adeleke, that of his, junior brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke and also at the residence of Governor-elect, Sen. Demola Adeleke which is a little distance from that of his brothers.
Some of the celebrating citizens who spoke to Flowerbudnews commended INEC ”for a job well done” urging it to sustain the good trend for all future elections.
Mr. Mudashiru Adebanji said he was happy with the outcome of the elections, stressing that INEC performance in Osun ”potends good omen for the nation’s democracy. (Flowerbudnews
